Fireworks Updater 7.0.2

Posted March 02, 2004 by senocular

Fireworks has a new updater (patch) to get you up to speed with Fireworks 7.0.2. You can read the release notes here. Doesn't seem to be that crucial of an update, but it is comforting to know that Macromedia is sticking to their guns in addressing such issues and patching them.

Also, if you've missed it, the Freehand 11.0.2 updater was released last month. You can read the release notes for that update here.

Pacman Actionscripted in 30 Lines

Posted March 02, 2004 by senocular

Andre Michelle has a Flash-based Pacman game created in 30 lines of code. It's quite impressive, especially having been done in just 30 lines (of course workarounds were used to get the line count low, but still). You can see the posting now from the main site or the original post.

Audacity 1.2.0 Released

Posted March 01, 2004 by senocular

Audacity 1.2.0, a free cross-platform audio editor, has just been released. You can download it for Windows, Mac OSX or Linux/Unix courtesy of SourceForge.net. Flash may have about all the tools you need for graphics, but it won't generate sound for you. Audacity is a great, free way to accomplish that.

This is the latest Macromedia/Flash-based event thats been getting everyone all stirred up. This was held at StarCity in Sydney, Australia on February 24th and 25th. A few well knowns attended. Keep an eye out for feature peaks of Swift3D version 4 from Erain's website. A feature of the day countdown will begin sometime this month (March).

Also of note is Erain's St. Patrick's Day Card Contest. Make the best St. Patrick's day card and you could win a copy of Swift3d V3 and Optimaze.

Back on Track

Posted March 01, 2004 by senocular

senocular.com is now back on track after a slight derailment. Sadly, the nice fellows over at ToolBlast will no longer be hosting this site, however their services are still to be looked forward to when they launch a little later this year (some time soon I understand).

I, senocular, have now taken the liberty of hosting senocular.com on my own and, though thankful of the charity of others, no longer relying on it. Hopefully this will add some stability and consistency to the site as you would no longer have to remember umbc or ToolBlast with the association of senocular branded products.

On a secondary note, I have considered not spending as much attention to the blog as it seems to be a waste of time with little recognition. This is better for me since it gives me more time to work on other things, but at the same time a little part of me is lost. If anyone thinks I should continue, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Also, I've been entertaining the idea of a redesign (yes, again). I think I need something more solid and managable. This may or may not come to be any time soon, though the possibility exists nonetheless. But, the fact is that I myself am not "interactive" - that was just the project from umbc and had since carried over into the naming given to me by the guys at ToolBlast. Methinks that needs to go. When and how soon is the question.

With the transition, there may be some bugs in the site. Let me know if you find anything thats not working right. ;)

SEIPY ActionScript Editor

Posted February 20, 2004 by senocular

If you're a fine of SciTE or SciTE|Flash (as I am) then you might find yourself to be a big fan of SE|PY, a free ActionScript editor with all the wonderful features of SciTE and more. One of the more impressive and helpful of those features is the ClassBrowser for AS2 classes.

Also wothy of note is the increasingly popular Primalscript, though its $179 price tag can be a little intimidating.

Stacks, Queues and Linked Lists in AS2

Posted February 18, 2004 by senocular

Thomas Amsler has released some open source (LGPL) data structures free for download. These structures, at present time, consist of implementations of stacks, queues and linked lists in ActionScript 2.0.

Current version is 0.0.1. Some mirrors seem to be down (or simply do not yet have the file) so try another if you're having troubles downloading.
